Mr Bala Hassan, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone II, has assured Lagos and Ogun residents of a crime-free Christmas season.
Hassan gave the assurance during his familiarisation visit to the Lagos Office of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at Iganmu, Lagos.

“We are doing what we can within available resources to see that Lagosians sleep with their eyes closed.
“And we have promised them that this Christmas will be better because we know the challenges and we are meeting day and night.
“The phones are open; don’t enter a vehicle with unknown people inside.
“If you are travelling, don’t go to toll gate because you may see some two people there and you want to be the third, fourth or the last one; those people are robbers.
“But if you go to a park recognised by the National Union of Road Transport Workers or the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria and something happens on the highway, they will be able to inform the union and they will trace the vehicle and get the driver arrested.’’

He said that the command would produce and distribute pamphlets to educate travellers on the action they should take during an emergency.
“We are launching some pamphlets consisting of all our numbers so that anyone with a problem, whether in Lagos State or Ogun, can call those numbers.
“We have told our officers that they need to be there within five minutes barring the issue of bad roads.’’
The AIG, however, advised commuters to avoid unauthorised motor parks as they may fall prey to criminals lurking around such parks.
