Police in Kaduna on Tuesday arrested a woman believed to be in her mid-40s while trying to sell some Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs.
The suspect was apprehended after the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, women leader in Kabala ward, Kaduna North Local Government Area raised the alarm.
According to the PDP women leader, Hajiya Hajara Mairiga, the suspect visited her at home on Monday and told her that she has some PVCs for sell.
Mairiaga further stated that, on hearing what the suspect had to sell, she immediately alerted the Police who came and apprehended her.
It was gathered that the suspect was taken to the Criminal Investigation Department, CID, of the police force for further investigation.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Zubairu, confirmed the matter, adding that the suspect has been detained for further investigation.
Zubairu said, “The case with us is that the PDP woman leader of Kabala Costain is the complainant. What happened is that one woman came to her with PVC for sale and she raised alarm and called the police.
“The woman suspect was arrested and she is presently in our custody as investigation is ongoing.”
According to the Police, when investigation into the case is completed, the suspect will be charged to Court if found guilty.
