Police in Akwa Ibom State has arrested a man identified only as Inyang at the Onna area of the state for allegedly cutting a motor cyclist (okada rider) with a machete and whizzing away with his motorcycle and phone.
According to a Facebook user, Donny Ufot, who shared the story on his wall, the suspect was arrested by men of the Onna divisional police headquarters after he nearly killed the okada rider who carried him from Onna head-bridge down to his house at Ikot ebekpo village in onna.
According to the report, the suspect had hired the victim to take him home in the area to change his clothes and then take him back to the head-bridge.
Ufot quoted a police officer at the station as saying, “After taking him to the house to change, on their way going back, the passenger directed the cyclist to take a turn into the newly commissioned Okat road in Onna for him to pick a gallon of diesel he claimed to have dropped somewhere along the road.
“And on getting there the suspect now pulled out a machete and started cutting the bike man from the head and dumped him inside the nearby bush.”
According to the police, the victim bled from around 8:20pm when the incident happened till the following morning. While confirming the arrest of the suspect, the police officer added that the okada rider has been taken to a hospital in the area for treatment.
