Police arrests notorious kidnapper in Rivers

The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a suspected notorious kidnapper and the rescue of three kidnap victims. The Police Public Relations Officer, Nnamdi Omoni , disclosed in a statement obtained by DAILY POST that the suspect identified as Kelvin Goodluck was arrested yesterday evening in company of two others.

Omoni said Goodluck was intercepted while driving a suspected stolen car, and upon interrogation, led detectives to a car dealer in Osisioma area of Aba in Abia State where Chihuna Onyeam and Lambert Nwodu were arrested and eight suspected stolen cars recovered from them.

In a separate operation; the PPRO said operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit tracked down a kidnapping gang at a forest around Umuebulu, in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The detectives rescued Amadi Okey, Stanley Odioye and Princess Maduegbulam who were in blindfold and under guard by four armed men.

The police spokesman said the hoodlums engaged the policemen in a gun battle, with two of the kidnapers killed, but two others escaped with bullet wounds.

“Operatives of the Anti Kidnapping Unit of the R/S Command last night at about 2020 Hrs, while following up a case of Kidnapping, played along with the Kidnappers who were anxiously waiting for a ransom.

“The Operatives traced them to a forest in Umuebulu Etche LGA, where the kidnapped victims namely:Amadi Okeh ‘m’ Comrade Stanley Odious ‘ m’ and Princess Maduegbulam ‘f’ were blind folded and quartet by four armed men.

“The men on sighting the Operatives,engaged them and in a return fire two of hoodlums were fatally wounded while two escaped with bullet wounds.

“The Hostages were immediately rescued and released to their family members. Items recovered from the Kidnappers include : Two locally made long guns and Ten Cartridges. Operatives have declared serious manhunt for them. The Command is however appealing to the Public for continued support and cooperation as we are irrevocably committed to the onslaught against Crimina
