The Bauchi State Police command has arrested two women for abandoning their children in the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Kamal Datti Abubakar, told newsmen in his office on Monday, that one of the women, Hauwa Ishaku, who is about 23 years old hailed from Bidir village Azare Local Government Area of the state and gave birth to a baby boy in an uncompleted building and dropped same in a dried well.
The PPRO, further said that, when they received the report, police team moved to the area and rescued the baby alive and took him to the Federal Medical Center Azare for medical treatment and thereafter arrested the suspected mother.
The PPRO also informed that during investigation the suspect stated that her ex-husband who was responsible for the child has refused to accept his responsibility coupled with the fact that she couldn’t cater for herself not to talk of the baby.
He also said that both the mother and the baby are now in the custody of Bauchi State Welfare Board.
In a similar vein, the command also received a report that same date, that one Aisha Bashir 17 years old of Danmarke ward Hotoro Kano, who came down to Bauchi State to abandoned her three weeks old baby at the corridor of one Kabiru Abubakar’s house kasuwan Kaji quarters Azare town.
The PPRO said that on received of the report police team moved to the area and rescued the baby.
The PPRO also said that the police team arrested the suspect mother equally.
He also said that, during investigation the mother suspect claimed that she did what she did because her parents rejected her with the baby.
