Police arrest two over alleged stealing of N500,000 at Oyo government secretariat

No fewer than two (2) people have been arrested in connection with the stealing of the sum of Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N500,000) on Wednesday at a car park situated at Oyo State Secretariat, Ibadan.

The duo who drove a Lexus Jeep, were said to have trailed the victim to Bureau of Physical Planning and Development Control within the Secretariat from a commercial bank where she had gone to withdraw the money.

Suspecting that she was being trailed, the victim after parking had watched the robbers from her hiding place and raised the alarm immediately the robbers broke her side glass to take the money.

The two suspects who took to their heels after the owner of the money raised the alarm were later caught by some of those around the premises.

They were later handed over to the men of the state police command, Agodi division.

Some eyewitnesses who showed our correspondent the videos of the incident, noted that aside from the two caught, one other person who participated in the robbery escaped through a fence.

Public Relations Officer (PRO), of the state police command, Mr. Olugbenga Fadeyi who confirmed the arrest of the two suspects said that the robbers had in their possession, ATM cards, telephones and a Lexus Jeep.

He gave the name of the suspected robbers as Adebayo Ade and Ayo Bolanle.

Fadeyi insisted that the suspects were still under interrogation at the Agodi police station, Ibadan.
