The Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team, IRT, has arrested no fewer than 14 deadly kidnappers, armed robbers operating between Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Expressway.
The suspects, including three brothers were said to be responsible for the gruesome murder of one Dr. Ibrahim Mailafia, a Senior lecturer With the Nasarawa State University, Lafia.
The IRT leader, ACP Abba Kyari told DAILY POST on Thursday that items such as AK47 rifles, pistol and the victim’s phone were recovered from them.
According to ACP Kyari, “In continuation of the mandate of Operation Absolute Sanity launched by the IGP Ibrahim K Idris, during follow up to the gruesome murder of Dr Ibrahim Mailafia on 3/11/17 between Kaduna-Zaria- Kano Express Way by deadly kidnappers/armed robbers, while on his way to Kano to visit his family after obtaining a Doctorate Degree on Artificial intelligence from United Kingdom, a technical intelligence was generated from TIU about the murderers/kidnappers responsible for the dastardly act who are equally terrorising motorists along Niger-Abuja and Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Expressways.
“Special Team of the IGP’s Intelligence Response Team, IRT in an unrelenting follow up eventually arrested 14 confirmed members of the kidnapping and armed robbery syndicates including the receivers of their robbed cars.
“Suspects arrested Included: Sunday Jatau, 35 years, native of Kaduna State, the leader of the gang who confessed to have personally shot and killed Mailafia.
“Solomon Jatau, 40 years, a brother to the gang leader, Ayuba Jatau, 32 years, also younger brother to the gang leader, Ishaku Luka, aka, Dogo who sells arms and ammunition to the gang, a native of Kujama LGA Kaduna.
“Bature Adamu, 38 years, Bello Abdullahi 32 years, Mamuda Mohammed, 27 years, Ibrahim Daniel, 27 years from Chad Republic who was found in possession of the late Dr Mailafia’s phones.
“Emmanuel Garba, 27 years native of Ekot-Epene in Akwa Ibom State, Alhaji Usman Mohammed, 35 years, receiver of their robbed goods, Alhaji Ibrahim Baba, 49 years receiver of robbed goods, Bello Aliyu, 36 years receiver of robbed goods, Surajo Mohammed, 35 years receiver of robbed goods and Hassan Ibrahim, 55 years, who also received some of the robbed goods.
“They were all arrested in Kaduna town and Zaria respectively. Suspects have confessed to several armed robberies, kidnappings and murders within the Highways of kaduna, Kano and Niger States,” Kyari said.
