The Cross River State Police command has arrested three suspected armed robbers and cultists in Calabar, the state capital.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Miss Irene Ugbo, in a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday, said “On a tip off on 15/7/2019 at about 1721hrs, suspected armed robbers and cultists were planning to rob and use the proceed to fund reprisal attack on rivals cult.
“While acting on credible information, men of Uwanse surveillance were mobilized. The hoodlums on sighting the police opened fire, police replied and three suspects were arrested.
“The suspects were, Bassey Edem Bassey, Daniel Edim, Okon Effiong Awakeng” while exhibits recovered from them include: One locally made pistol, one cartridge and one dagger.”
She said investigation is ongoing after which suspects would be charged to court for prosecution.
