The Inspector General of Police Special Intelligence Monitoring Team has arrested a serving Lance Corporal in the Nigerian Army, Emmanuel Ebo, alongside seven others, for allegedly selling ammunition to a notorious gang of armed robbers, which attacked banks in Lagos and Ogun states respectively.

Others arrested include: Ahmed Monsuru, Bayo Olaoye, Olamilekan Omopeji, Ayodeji Famileye, Opeyemi Balogun, Michael Adebayo, and Edward Paul.

Ebo was arrested by the team at his base in Maiduguri, Borno State, while the other suspects were rounded up in various hideouts in Lagos, Ogun, and Oyo states.

The lance corporal, who had reportedly confessed to the crime, was apprehended by the team, led by CSP Abba Kyari, after the police informed the Department of Military Intelligence on the development.

Six automatic pump-action rifles, a pistol and some cartridges were recovered from the suspects by the police team.

It was learnt that the lance corporal, while transporting the weapons to hoodlums from Borno to Lagos State, concealed them in food items, adding that upon receiving the weapons, the robbers would credit his bank account.

Ebo’s arrest, alongside others was confirmed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olabisi Kolawole, adding that investigation was ongoing on the matter.
