The Nigeria Police have arrested a member of a notorious robbery syndicate terrorizing Abuja and its environs.
The nine-man robbery gang was nabbed by the Intelligence Response Team, IRT, led by ACP Abba Kyari.
Kyari, in a statement sent to DAILY POST, said the gunmen were picked up upon receipt of complaints by one Pastor Davies and Several Residents of Mabushi area of FCT.
He said the IGP Ibrahim K Idris subsequently directed his team to track and apprehend the culprits terrorizing the area.
ACP Kyari said the IRT operatives immediately launched a massive manhunt against the robbers and eventually and picked all of them up.
He said his team first tracked and arrested on Lawal Peter, 25, who was nabbed with one of the stolen Infinix Hotnote mobile phone.
He said the suspect confessed and led IRT operatives to their hideout in Mabushi FCT Abuja where his other cohorts were arrested.
The intelligent police office added that “following gang members namely were arrested; Emmanuel Adole, 26, a native of Otukpo Benue, Ojuma Onoja, 24, from Kogi State, Danjuma Mohammed, 30, Dickson Uche, 21, a aative of Abia State and Ali Abdul 24, from Kano State.”
“They were all arrested in Mabushi FCT Abuja. All suspects confessed to several armed robberies in Abuja and led IRT Operatives to Akwa Ibom and Cross Rivers States where other gang-members were also arrested. Friday Emmanuel 28, Akaninyena Etukdo, 32, Ikechukwu John, 32 and Joe Effiong, 28 we also picked up,” Kyari added.
He stated further that their operational house-breaking and car jacking tools were also recovered.
