The Police in Cross River State have arrested two suspected criminals for defiling minors in the state.
The first suspect, a 45 years old man of No 1 Joseph Mkpang Street, Calabar, Joshua Onoyom, was alleged to have lured one Ferida Mohammed aged 5, into his room.
DAILY POST findings revealed that the suspect allegedly pulled off the pant of the victim and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.
A source hinted that the suspect cautioned the victim not to tell anybody about the act and also promised to buy her biscuits.
“The mother of the victim noticed that her daughter was screening painfully when she was bathing her and when she asked, her daughter told her that the suspect raped her,” the source alleged.
The second incident occurred when 59 years old man, Okon Edet Okon raped a 12 years old girl, Jennifer Samuel, who was returning from school.
Our correspondent gathered that the victim was sent out of school for fees when the victim met her and promised to give her the money for her school fees.
“He lured her to his house at No 12 Eyo Ishie Street, Calabar and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her without giving her the school fees he promised.
“When the victim got home and while pulling off her pants to take her bath, her mother saw blood stains on her pant and inquired from her what happened.
The victim told the mother what the victim did to her. The matter was taken to the hospital for medical examination to ascertain her health status,” it was gathered.
The State Commissioner of Police, while confirming the stories, CP Austin Agbonlahor said the suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are completed.
“In the light of the above, it will be pertinent to reassure the good and law-abiding people of Cross River that the command has the capacity to deal with any miscreant or group of persons that may want to take laws into their hands or dare to harass, intimidate and instil fears in the minds of the people,” he stated.
