A two man armed robbery gang, who killed a National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, member during a robbery operation at Muritala Muhammed Way in Benin, the Edo State capital, have been apprehended by the State Police Command.
DAILY POST gathered that the deceased corps member, identified as David Onyeasina, was shot dead by the hoodlums during a robbery operation around Edo College, in the state capital. The school was said to be the place of his primary assignment.
Onyeasina, a 21-year-old graduate of Fine and Applied Arts from the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho in Oyo State, was said to have been shot dead after he had gone to buy a recharge card.
The State police spokesperson, DSP Stephen Onwochei, disclosed that the two suspects, Mathias Efe and Dominus Aisabodo, were nabbed shortly after the operation, adding that they confessed to the killing of the corps member during a sporadic gunshot while trying to escape the scene of the robbery.
Onwochei, said the police recovered two cut-to-size guns, nine live cartridges, 10 mobile handsets and jewelry belonging to their victims from the robbers.
