Police arrest Indian teacher who ‘repeatedly raped’ 11-year-old Nigerian boy

The Indian school staff who allegedly raped an 11-year-old Nigerian school boy has been arrested by police in Greater Noida.

This followed protest by Africans in front of the school where the boy was allegedly sodomized.

According to Hindustan Times, the school principal said the accused, Ashok Mishra, 35 who has been working as an administrative assistant for five years has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days.

She said ”Mishra’s job was to ‘screen’ visitors of the principal. He also used to sell school diaries, resource books and uniforms to students. He had access to the entire building, including the teachers’ staff room.”

“On Monday, two police officers had come to our school to inquire about Mishra. Since he was entrusted with installing GPS in school buses, I thought the police wanted to talk to him about that but it was at 9.45pm that I got to know that he was in police custody.

“He was a trusted member of the staff and was respected by everyone. We have never had any complaints regarding his behavior.”

“We have started the process of installing the cameras and the wiring is still being done. GPS devices are also being installed in the buses. However, due to Diwali vacations, the entire process could not be completed.”

“We have constituted a six-member committee to investigate the incident and for now, we have suspended Ashok Mishra. We will restart the child counsellor services.”

The Investigation officer, Girish Kotiya said “The accused has been sent to judicial custody. We are probing this case from all possible angles.”
