The Edo State Police Command, has arrested four suspects for sending fake bank alerts to car a dealer.

The suspects, simply identified as Samuel Ogie, Osayande Osagbe, Omorodion Matthew and Prince Owens Elema reportedly committed the crime in Delta State few weeks back and fled to Edo State.

The state Commissioner of Police, Babatunde Johnson Kokumo, said the suspects purchased a Toyota Corolla from a car dealer in Delta State but were arrested after a discreet investigation in Edo.

He said the suspects approached a car shop at Ekpan in Delta State under the pretence of buying a vehicle and told the car dealer that they would pay through bank transfer.

Babatunde said one of the suspects fraudulently did the transfer and the car dealer confirmed that he had received alert on his phone, which made him to allow the fraudsters to take the car away adding that the scam was discovered when the car dealer went to bank to withdraw money.

“I want to inform the public that scammers are everywhere. It is possible to receive credit alert when nothing has been transferred to your account,” he added.

He said the suspects would be charged to court soon.
