Police arrest eight suspected kidnappers in Delta, kill two others

The Police Anti-Kidnapping Team attached to the Delta State Police Command Asaba in the early hours on Tuesday arrested eight suspected kidnappers in Asaba, and killed two others in gun battle.

The Police Commissioner in the state, Mr. Muhammed Mustafa, who confirmed the arrest of the eight suspects and the killing of two others to DAILY POST, said: “following the kidnap of Mrs. Okeme, and other kidnap cases within Asaba/Sapele/Warri and its environs, the team, anti-kidnapping led by CSP Udoh Kenneth arrested one George Henry, 31 Usieffe-run, Ughelli and the suspect on interrogation confessed being a member of a gang that perpetrated the acts, and he led the police team to others and they were arrested.”

The police boss added that notorious kidnappers, 39-year-old Austin Koroh, and Felix Jowoh from Emede community, Isoko, who had been on the wanted list of the police, engaged the police in a shoot-out during which they were killed on the spot.

According to the Police Commissioner, “the police anti-kidnapping team while combing everywhere, arrested one Donatus who in company of others at large, kidnapped one Timothy Ikwulono around Infant Jesus road in Asaba at about 11pm in front of his car, Toyota High Lander which was later recovered”.

He added that the said Donatus is currently helping the police with useful information in the case of Lukeman Babejide of Oyede town, who was invited to be linked up for a contract by one Kennedy but has been missing as at June 30, 2018.

Mustafa maintained that the police has commenced investigation into the matter and would fish out the suspect.
