Police arrest 3 suspects over shooting of Fulani herdsmen leader in Bayelsa

The Bayelsa State Police Command has arrested three suspects linked to the assassination of a prominent cattle dealer, Jibril Abdulkarim, and three of his employees. Recall that unknown gunmen weekend shot and killed one Alhaji Jubril Abdulkareem, the leader of Fulani herdsmen group also known as Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, in Bayelsa.

Abdulkareem and three of his employees were reportedly killed along the Bayelsa Palm road.

Bayelsa State Police Commissioner Asuquo Amba told journalists on Monday that the suspects were being profiled and their telephone records being examined.

“We have so far taken three suspects into custody and we are profiling them and their phone communications. From the facts before us, it is an assassination done in close range and the people [victims] must have been known to them.

“We are equally looking at the leadership issues and election of the Fulanis, and I am hopeful that with the clues we have, we shall be able to have a breakthrough,” Mr. Amba said.
