Men of the Imo state Police command arrested three men suspected to be part of the robbery gang responsible for killing of two policemen and one soldier in the state in 2010.
In a statement signed by the Imo state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Vitalis Onugu, in Owerri on Saturday, his men were able to arrest the robbery gangs following a tip off from an anonymous source who named the gang’s informant.
“We were informed of the suspicious movement of one Chukwuma Nwanjoku and he was arrested.
“When we questioned him, he disclosed that he was an informant of an armed robbery gang and has been providing information to the robbers preparatory for an attack.
“From the information he gave us, we were able to arrest the rest of them and the man who supplied them with arms.
“The suspects have admitted that they’re part of the gang responsible for killing two policemen and one soldier in Amaraku Junction in 2010,” the statement stated.
Onugu noted that the culprits would be charged to court after investigations have been concluded..
