The Police Command in Niger State has arrested 15 suspects for cattle rustling, armed robbery and thefts in different parts of the state.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mohammadu Abubakar, disclosed this in a statement to NAN on Tuesday.
Abubakar said that the three suspects who were arrested for cattle rustling had been terrorising the people of Chanchaga, Bosso, Paikoro and Gurara local government areas.
He said that 14 cows, one rifle and 19 rounds of live ammunition were recovered from the suspects.
“Similarly, the Police in Chanchaga Division trailed and arrested four armed robbery suspects.
“The suspects whom were armed with machetes invaded the house of one Hayatullah Umar of Maitumbi Area, inflicted serious injuries on him while attempting to rob his Jincheng rubber motorcycle.
“The Police detectives attached to Anti-Kidnapping Squad arrested three suspects of Barkin Sale, Minna, who specialise in house breaking and theft.
“The suspects broke into the house of one Abdulrahman Mohammed of behind El-Amin International School, Minna, and made away with 1.43 inch Samsung Plasma TV; a Clipper; 3 Decoder and 4 World Receiver Radio sets all valued at N130,000.
“The operatives of SARS trailed and arrested another syndicate which specialised in theft and receiving of stolen properties in Beji village of Bosso Local Government Area and arrested 5 suspects,” the police spokesman said.
He said that one Bajaj motorcycle and two cell phones were recovered from the suspects.
He said that all the suspects confessed to the crime and would soon be charged to court.
