The police on Thursday arraigned a commercial sex worker, Loval Uche, 26, before a Wuse Zone 2 Magistrates’ Court for allegedly giving false information.
The police arraigned Uche on a two-count charge of defamation of character and giving false information.
Police prosecutor Abdullahi Hassan told the court that the matter was reported at the Mabushi Police Station on Feb. 19 by one Israel Christopher of Mararaba, Nasarawa State.
Hassan said that on Feb. 19, Christopher picked Uche up at the Crystal Lodge Hotel, Wuse 2, with an agreement to have sexual intercourse with her.
He said that both parties agreed that N12,000 would be paid to Uche for her “services” before they left the premises of the hotel.
“On their way to Christopher’s house, Uche started screaming that Christopher was an armed robber.
“Her screams attracted people, who gathered at the scene and beat Christopher to a pulp,’’ Hassan said.
He said the offences contravened the provisions of sections 392 and 140 of the Penal Code, but the accused pleaded not guilty.
The Magistrate, Mr Tony Ubani granted Uche bail in the sum of N40,000 with a surety in like sum.
Ubani ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and must have a definite means of identification.
He adjourned the matter to March 18, for further hearing.
