Two suspected armed robbers were yesterday apprehended by the Bauchi State Police Command for confessing that they killed one Prof. Mustapha Falaki, a lecturer at the Ahmedu Bello University.
According to Haruna Mohammed, the command’s spokesperson who made this disclosure in a press statement, the suspects were arrested when a Toyota Hilux was recovered from them.
The release named the suspects as Mohammed Musa, 32, and Jamilu Idris, 33.
The police Spokesperson said, “Some suspected robbers, numbering about four, snatched a white Toyota Hilux, with registration number 45H07FG, a property of the Institute of Agricultural Research, ABU, and Zaria.
“The suspects snatched the vehicle at gunpoint from one late Prof. Mustapha Falaki at the Sumaila area after attacking the Kibiya Police Station in Kano State.”
Mohammed further added that in a bid to evade arrest, the bandits used Burra town in Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State, with his police in pursuit.
On sighting the police in pursuit, the suspects abandoned their vehicle, stole a motorcycle and escaped into the forest.
Haruna noted that officers of the police force laid ambushed in the area, this led to arrest of the suspects who also confessed to killing the university don.
