The Kogi state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has again raised alarm over alleged plans by the police to assassinate Senator Dino Melaye.

Usman Okai, spokesman of the chapter, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.

Okai claimed that the police are working on the alleged order of Yahaya Bello, the state governor, to invade Melaye’s Abuja residence.

Okai further called on Mohammed Adamu, acting inspector-general of police, to prevail on the police and the state government to desist from “this wicked plans”.

The statement read: “There are plans to invade the country home of Senator Dino Melaye, shoot sporadically at the house in an attempt to assassinate him

“We have it on good authority from a reliable source privy to the plan that O/c SARS Abubakar Babagana and O/c Mopol Mohammed Sani are allegedly mandated to carry out this undemocratic plans between tonight 10th February and tomorrow.

“We in the PPCC therefore call on the Inspector General of Police to call his men to order and to also use this opportunity to inform the general public especially the good people of Kogi West Senatorial District of this wicked plans and to resist such movies.

“The PPCC notes that the fortune of the party in the coming election has continued to soar on a daily basis, said no amount of intimidation would change the minds of the peoples rejection of the APC led administration and for all its candidates in Kogi state.

“The PPCC called on the people of Kogi State, particularly it members in Kogi west senatorial district to be vigilant and watchful as the Gov. Bello’s administration, having failed to perform, now realises that it time is up, now has resought to intimidation, harassment and arrest of members of the PDP.”
