Chelsea legend, Craig Burley, has picked his preferred Manchester United penalty taker between Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford.
DAILY POST recalls that Pogba and Rashford had a discussion on who to take the spot-kick in their side’s 1-1 draw against Wolves last Monday in the Premier League.
The spot kick was awarded at 1-1, allowing Man United to retake the lead in the second half.
But Pogba stepped up after discussing with Marcus Rashford and saw his effort palmed away by Rui Patricio and the game eventually ended in a draw.
Burley now believes that Rashford should be Man United penalty taker ahead of Pogba, adding that the England international is an experienced young player.
“Quite frankly, it’s been a relatively sharp start to the season for Man United, relatively, by what the expectations are,” Burley said on ESPN FC.
“Man United, Solskjaer and everybody else doesn’t need this nonsense, and it is nonsense.
“It’s a penalty kick and anybody could miss it.
“But just sort it out in the dressing room and try and move on with improving on the field.
“[Rashford] is an experienced young player, it was his responsibility in my opinion to say ‘I’m taking the penalty kick, same as last week, job done, nice run Paul, nice bit of skill, I’m the man’, and that didn’t happen.”
Manchester United will will now tackle Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on Saturday in the Premier League.
