Manchester United midfielder, Paul Pogba, has admitted he played through the pain barrier, in their 3-1 win over Swansea on Sunday.

The France international, who returned to Old Trafford in a world-record transfer last summer, was taken off in the first half of their Europa League defeat to Fenerbahce on Thursday.

However, he was fit enough to start the game against Swansea and even opened scoring with a brilliant volley.

“I always say that when you go with your head, everything will follow,” Pogba told MUTV before jetting off to France on international duty.

“It [the injury] is not gone. It’s still here. I was fit enough to play and after the gaffer put me in I played and I give my best every time.”

Pogba’s comments come as manager Jose Mourinho criticized Chris Smalling and Luke Shaw, for ruling themselves out of the same match.

Mourinho said after the match: “There is a difference between the brave, who want to play at any cost, and the ones for whom a little pain can make a difference.

“If I were to speak with the many great football people of this team, they will say they played many times without being 100%.

“We have players on the pitch with problems. In every sport, how many times do you play and you’re not 100%?”
