After 10-years of separation from his wife, a 44-year-old businessman, Surakat Adesegun, has finally taken a decision to seek for the formal dissolution of his marriage with Abimbola Adesegun.

The father of one filed for divorce at a Grade A Customary Court in Oshodi, Lagos praying the jurors to dissolve their union. Giving his evidence, Surakat revealed to the court the urgent need for him to remarry since his marriage to Abimbola has long broken down irreconcilable and they had long been separated.

According to him, “we were only married for five years with a son, but have been separated since year 2000 due to the recurrence of some issues.

“My son is 15 years old and he is through with secondary education. I was the one that sponsored him all through,” he said. Mr. Adesegun, also told the court that due to his wife’s insistent, he is willing to grant her the custody of their son for proper motherly care.

“She complained that I was not taking good care of the child to her satisfaction, now I am willing to release her son to her,” he stated.

After listening to the petitioner, the presiding judge, Alhaja I. A. Olorunimbe, observed that indeed the union has broken down and could no longer hold waters, thus, she dissolved it and asked the couple to go their separate ways. “Since the marriage has broken down beyond reconciliation, the couple should no more be addressed as husband and wife and I hereby congratulate Mr. Surakat for giving his son a quality education before releasing him to his mother,” she said.
