The Plateau State University, Bokkos would hold its first convocation 12 years after the establishment of the institution, its Vice Chancellor, Prof. Doknan Sheni, has said.
Sheni made the disclosure on Monday, while briefing journalists in Bokkos.
“This is the first of its kind since the establishment of the University 12 years ago.
“As you may be aware, Plateau State University has gone through turbulent moments since its evolution, particularly with the suspension of academic activities in 2007, which impacted negatively on the University’s growth and development and took us many years back.
“Today however, this is all history as we have not only come out of these challenges stronger but have been able to achieve both the accreditation of our entire programmes and have also graduated and mobilized two sets of our graduands for the National Youth Service.
“On the 20th March, 2016, Management studies and Accounting had full accreditation, while the remaining 15 courses had interim accreditation and we are very please with that.”
The Vice Chancellor further stated that, in its efforts to get quality personnel for the institution, it sent 64 of its staff to the best universities in the World for further studies.
Plateau State University was established in 2005, admitted students the same year but none of the students graduated due to non-accreditation of their courses, until last year.
The institution would be convocating 344 graduands out of which three graduated with first class degrees, on the 4th, February, 2017.
