Plateau United FC sacks Baraje, appoints Wickadason

Sequel to strings of poor results in the ongoing NPFL season, the Management of Plateau United Football Club of Jos, has relieved the club’s Technical Adviser, Zakary Baraje of his appointment.

The Club in a press statement signed by its Media Officer, Albert Dakup, and made available to journalists, Monday, said the decision became necessary because of the team’s dwindling performance.

The statement said that the poor results has kept United on the 14th position on the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) table with 22 points after 17 matches.

According to the the Club, it was still looking for its first win in four matches as it drew 1-1 with visiting Elkanemi Warriors of Maiduguri on Sunday in Jos.

It further reads, “The management noted with concern the recent performance of team in spite the club determination to make good impression in the NPFL.

“The club observed a communication gap between between the techinal adviser with his assistants and the players which is affecting the success of the team,” it said.

The statement added that despite the free hand given to Baraje, he has not justified the huge confidence reposed in him by turning around the club’s fortunes.

It would be recalled that Baraje who joined Plateau United FC from Akwa United of Uyo before the commencement of the ongoing league season had previously handled the Jos based club twice.

However, Victor Wickadason, who is a former player/captain of the Club, who returned to the main team recently after several years in the feeder team is to take over as the head of the technical crew.

Wickadason will be assisted by Audu Isa Pele, Morris Longmiap, and Tunde Adedara as goalkeeper trainers.
