The Plateau State Police Commissioner, Mr. Nasiru Oki, in a bid to ensure adequate security during the upcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebration, has banned Muslims in the state from going to prayer grounds with their handbags and knives.
Oki stressed that the police in partnership with other security agencies, are working to ensure a hitch free celebration.
While speaking with journalist on Tuesday in Jos, the police boss urged residents of the state to go about their legitimate business without fear of attack.
Oki said handbags are prohibited from all prayer venues, adding that vehicles must be parked 300 meters away from prayer grounds.
He added that security operatives have been directed to screen owners of amusement parks and other relaxation centres.
“Throwing of stones or pure water is prohibited, hanging on the body of vehicles or tricycles is also not allowed. Use of knives or any dangerous weapons at prayer grounds and after is not allowed,” he said.
“The good people of Plateau are enjoined to once again exhibit such good virtues and conduct during the forthcoming Sallah festivities as the present fragile peace on the Plateau cannot be toiled with under any guise.”
