Immediate past Governor of Plateau State and Senator Representing Plateau North, Jonah Jang, has claimed that his successor, Governor Simon Lalong, governs the state from Abuja.
Jang on Tuesday said he didn’t build the state’s new Government House for Governor Lalong to occupy, saying that the PDP gubernatorial candidate in the state should get ready to move into the new apartment by May 29, 2019 as the APC-led government would be voted out of power.
Jang stated this while addressing a mammoth crowd during the PDP gubernatorial campaign flag off of Jeremiah Useni, held in Mangu Stadium, Mangu Local Government Area of the State.
He said, “I’m going to lead the PDP campaigns in Plateau State.
“After being the Governor of Plateau State for eight years, nobody knows Plateau better than me, nobody knows the secret of winning elections in Plateau State better than me, let Governor Lalong and the APC start packing their rags from Government House Jos.
“I didn’t build that Government House for him, that is why he cannot rule the State, he has been governing Plateau from Abuja.
“Even where he lodges in Abuja, I had to rebuild it, therefore, General Jeremiah Useni, you should get ready to takeover the seat of governorship of Plateau State 2019 and you will see PDP in action again.
“You have seen the work PDP has done in Plateau and Nigeria in general. Till date, the APC government is still publishing our achievements as theirs,” he maintained.
According to him, “When APC came in 2015, they made so much noise on the fight against corruption, and yet the corruption that is ongoing now in Plateau and Nigeria, has never been seen in this country before.
“I want assure you, that PDP was destined from the beginning to rule Nigeria, but when Nigerians decided that the want to just see change, now you have seen the change, you now know better.
“I want to assure you that the PDP Presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar will bring back unity, peace and progress into Nigeria.
“Plateau State has never put PDP to shame, and this year again Plateau will vote Atiku Abubakar as the President of Nigeria.
“PDP will clear Plateau State in the Presidential, Governorship, all our National Assembly and State Assembly, PDP will clear Plateau State”, he assured.
In his address, the PDP governorship candidate in the state and Senator representing Plateau South, Jeremiah Useni, pledged to focus on sustainable peace and security of the state.
Useni said, “I will only spend four years single term in line with the zoning arrangement adopted for the purpose of the 2019 general elections.
“My Beloved people of Plateau State, I am painfully reminded of the fact that many of our people, particularly women and children, are still out there in Internally Displaced Persons camps.
“If given the mandate, we shall not only pursue a programme of reconciliation, reconstruction and rehabilitation, but take adequate measures to address the incessant attacks on our communities and villages”, he assured.
He also promised to rebuild all communities displaced by Fulani herdsmen in the state.
In his earlier address, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in the State and former Minister of Sports Development, Hon. Damishi Sango said citizens of the state are wiser in 2019 and they will not repeat the mistake of voting APC again.
Sango accused the APC-led administration in the state of rushing to award pockets of contracts in a desperate attempt to get the attention of unsuspecting Plateau voters.
“Our People are wiser now in 2019, and we will not repeat the mistake of allowing Lalong to continue
“We are dealing with Lalong who instead of being prepared to die for his people, but is ready to die for Buhari while some communities and villages are constantly attacked, particularly women and children still held up internally displaced in various IDPs”.
“Let me state here unequivocally that we are setting out well prepared, with a vision to restore our dear Plateau State”.
He said the PDP is driven by patriotic zeal to reverse the downward slide that has become the order of the day in the last three and half years of APC.
The flag off campaign witnessed thousands of dignitaries, which included former Ministers, Governors, National and State Assembly members, elders, women and youths.
