Dr Lyop Mang, the Executive Chairman of the board, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Jos that the beneficiaries were last promoted seven years ago.

The chairman said the promotion was delayed due to unavailable biometric data of the teachers.

She also said that some of the promotions were delayed due to lack of prerequisite qualification by the teachers.

Mang said only teachers from 15 of the 17 Local Government Areas of the state benefited in the exercise, adding that teachers from Bokkos and Mangu Local Government Areas were excluded following delay in the compilation of their data.

The chairman said pending cases were being addressed by the board, stressing that the exercise would motivate the affected teachers to be more committed to their duties.

“I enjoin the teachers to see this promotion as a charge to perform their duties diligently,” she said.

The chairman said the state government had constructed 10 classrooms at the Girl-Child Junior Secondary School, Gurum, Bassa Local Government Area, to enhance girl-child education in the state.
