The Plateau State Government has denied allegations that it was bias in the allocation and execution of the on-going development project in the State.
Mr. Solomon Maren, who is the Commissioner of Housing and Urban Development, refuted the allegations while speaking with journalists in Jos on Wednesday, saying those making such allegations were not fair to the government, stressing that they are unfounded .
According to him, “I have been here on the Plateau and have not seen any administration like that of Governor Jonah Jang, because it has tried in all its dealings to be fair to all the citizens of Plateau state. The ongoing hospital projects are equally distributed in all the three senatorial zones.
He said, “We have three hospitals and one referral in each of these senatorial districts, and if you go round, there is no senatorial district that you will not find them.
Adding that, “We have five schools per senatorial zone and one basic school, if you go round the senatorial zones; you will find out that all the schools are under construction at the moment.
Maren further stated that, the present administration in the State has in all ramifications met with the criteria of the State character, as it doesn’t discriminate in providing essential services to its citizenry.
His words, “In every aspect, this government is in tune with the criteria of State character, both in terms of employment, in terms of projects distribution and otherwise.
The Commissioner further maintained that, “If anybody is in doubt, he can come to verify from the available records, they are for people, because this government is doing well for all the citizens of Plateau State and don’t have anything to hide”.
He assured that, the State Government was doing well in developing the entire State without any form of discrimination, as the government was there for all.
It would be recalled that, during the inspection of ongoing projects by the Commissioner in some of the Local Governments, especially in the Southern Senatorial District, youth from some communities expressed displeasure over the uneven allocation and execution of projects in the State.
Mr. Ishaku Dapcir who spoke on behalf of the youth in Langtang South Local Government Council, alleged that government was lopsided in the execution of the on-going projects, stressing that more attention was given to Berom localities, where the governor hails from.
