Plateau Decides: Police hands over intercepted materials to INEC

The Plateau State Police Command has handed over sensitive and non-sensitive materials intercepted at the Independent Electoral Commission’s gate to the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Halilu Pai.

The Commissioner of Police, Isaac Akimoyede who said he was handing the materials in the presence of party representatives, the returning officer, among other stakeholders to ensure transparency noted that the materials remain intact.

Akimoyede said some allegations following the incident where an INEC staff was caught at the gate with electoral materials were untrue and gave the assurance that the staff would be dealt with accordingly.

Receiving the materials, the REC, Halilu Pai who acknowledged that the materials are intact explained that they will again be displayed before being used at the venue of collation to ensure transparency.

Commenting on the election so far, Pai said the commencement had been successful and the atmosphere more peaceful.
