Plateau boils again as gunmen kill 12, raze late Dantong’s house

No fewer than 12 persons have been killed and several others injured after violence erupted in four villages in the Bachit District of Riyom Local Government area of Plateau State.
The house of the late Senator Gyang Dantong was also razed in the renewed mayhem, just as a security personnel attached to the Special Task Force, STF was killed.
The Majority Leader and member representing Riyom Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Daniel Dem, who confirmed the attack to newsmen in the state, said only nine people were killed in the attacks.
He added that normalcy had since been restored as a result of intervention of the operatives of the Special Task Force.
While calling on the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to assist the victims with relief materials to cushion the effect of the attack, the lawmaker called for adequate security measures in the affected communities to enable the villagers go about their normal businesses.
