Plateau 2019: Why zoning will deepen corruption – PPN guber candidate

Barely a month to the gubernatorial elections, a candidate of the Peoples Party of Nigeria (PPN) in Plateau State, Jerry Mangai, has urged the people of the state not vote for candidates based on zoning.

He said the citizens should vote base on the credibility of the candidate irrespective of where he or she comes from.

Mangai stated this in Jos, the state capital, while featuring on a Political platform organised for candidates by the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Plateau State Council.

“I don’t believe in zoning because it will deepen corruption in the governance of the state.

“I believe in credibility of the candidate irrespective of where he comes from because that is the only way the state can achieve progress and development,” he added.

Mangai a retired Naval Officer who hails from Plateau Central assured that he will not abandon the electorate if elected in the March 2, 2019, election.

He said his desire to govern the state was based on the need to address the numerous challenges facing the people which he claimed past administrations in the state had failed to address.

He said, “Since 1999 when we started another phase of Nigeria democracy, Plateau has been governed either by PDP or APC.

“But you will notice that the people are usually abandoned once they are elected. That is not leadership.

“Both APC and PDP have done their best, but their best is not good enough for Plateau. What the people need is practical governance. I will not use and dump the electorate.”
