Pires tips Henry or Ancelotti to succeed Wenger as Arsenal manager

Arsenal legend Robert Pires, has said that Thierry Henry and Carlo Ancelotti, would be great options to replace Arsene Wenger when he leaves the club.

Although the 41-year-old does not expect his former boss to leave the Emirates anytime soon, he has tipped his former team-mate and Real Madrid coach as capable candidates.

“Who is the perfect replacement? Thierry Henry? He understands football and Arsenal. I don’t know, but I like Carlo Ancelotti,” he told Goal.

“But that’s my opinion, it doesn’t mean Arsenal need Ancelotti at this time.”

Reacting to the criticisms that Wenger has endured over his perceived failing in the transfer market, the winger who featured for the Gunners between 2000 and 2006 stated: “I wouldn’t say Arsenal have made any mistakes in the transfer market. If you play for Arsenal, it means you have some quality,’ he said.

“To me, Arsenal’s best signing is Santi Carzola. Fans love Alexis Sanchez, and so do I; he’s quick to adapt to the Premier League – but Cazorla is so important. For the last few months, he’s been our best player.”
