Pires claims Wenger will quit Arsenal if he wins Premier League

Former Arsenal winger, Robert Pires, has said he thinks Arsene Wenger will stay on as manager at the club, until he wins the Premier League title again.

Pires spent six seasons under Wenger, during which he won the league twice, including the 2003/2004 season when the ‘Invincible’ did not lose a single match.

The 42-year-old who is an Arsenal ambassador, claims his compatriot will continue until he win his fourth title in England.

“It’s then that I imagine him saying, ‘I’m leaving,’” Pires told L’Equipe.

“Each start of the season his number one goal is to win the Premier League.

“Actually, the only time I have seen him really emotional was when we were champions of England in 2004. At the moment he lifted the trophy, I saw him touched, caught up with emotion.

“It’s the year when we finished champions without losing a game. I don’t know if he’ll say it one day, but I think it is his proudest moment.”

Wenger will mark 20 years in charge of Arsenal this weekend.
