Former Nigeria Football Federation secretary-general, Taiwo Ogunjobi, has said that the current NFF president Amaju Pinnick, was wrong in openly declaring his support for Ahmad Ahmad ahead of the CAF presidential elections this Thursday.
Ahmad is the only contender against incumbent Issa Hayatou, who is seeking an eighth successive term.
“You don’t come out openly to declare support for a candidate in an election at the level of CAF,” Ogunjobi told Completesportsnigeria.com.
“Maybe youthful exhuberance, I don’t know but I think it’s a mistake to do that. It’s going to be difficult for Ahmad Ahmad even if there’s a chance for him. Hayatou has the experience and has been there for years.
“Pinnick would still have voted for a candidate of his choice if he didn’t come out to publicly to declare support for Ahmad.”
Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung, has already said Nigeria will not vote against Hayatou.
