Pinnick elected into CAF executive committee

President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, has been elected into the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Executive Committee.

Pinnick defeated his Beninoise counterpart Anjorin Ayodele Moucharafou with 32 votes to 17.

His victory means Nigeria is making a return to the highest organ in CAF since Amos Adamu’s exit.

Pinnick (Western Africa Zone B) joins Musa Bility (Liberia and Western Africa Zone A) Faozi Lekjaa (Morocco and Northern African Zone) and Danny Jordaan (South Africa and Southern African zone) as members elected into the CAF Executive Committee.

He becomes the body’s seventh president after Abdel Aziz Abdallah Salem (1957-1958), Abdel Aziz Moustafa (1958-1968), Abdel Halim Muhammad (1968-1972), Yidnekatchew Tessema (1972-1987), Abdel Halim Muhammad (1987-1988) and Issa Hayatou (1988-2017).
