President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, has spoken to Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Emenike, after a gunman attacked Fenerbahce’s bus last weekend.

The Turkish club were on their way back, after a 5-1 win over Rizespor FC, when the incident happened. Most of the squad members escaped unhurt, but the driver sustained serious injuries.

“He was happy I called to extend the sympathy of the NFF and Nigeria football family to him, and to assure him that we are with him at this period and also monitoring the situation with keen interest,” Pinnick said.

“Such incidents are not good for football.”

The Turkish Super Lig has been suspended for a week as a result of the incident.
