Photographs have emerged of the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, Governor of Kano State, Umar Ganduje and other notable dignitaries carrying the corpse of the late former Nigerian Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN), Maitama Sule, from the aircraft that brought him from Egypt.
Saraki shared the photos of the body being received on his social media handle, on Tuesday.
He wrote: “This evening, I was humbled to join Governor Ganduje and other dignitaries to receive the body of the great Danmasanin Kano, Ambassador Maitama Sule.
“May the soul of the dear and departed Statesman be granted Al Jannah Firdaus.”
The remains of Sule, who died in Cairo, Egypt , arrived the 403 Flying Training School air field belonging to the Nigerian Air Force in Kano in a military transport aircraft, Chalie 130 Gercules.
Sule, a former Petroleum Minister has been buried at the Abbature graveyard, Kano.
