The heavy downpour that was experienced in Otta area of Ogun state on Sunday has left four communities and their entire road networks submerged in flood waters.

The communities are Lafenwa, Aiyetoro, Itele, and Aparadija.

Commuters heading to Lagos through the Otta axis are reportedly finding it difficult to navigate through the flood waters.

According to an eyewitness – Bunmi Azeez, a 20 minutes journey by road on that axis, currently takes two hours to undertake due to the bad state of the roads.

It could be recalled that the Ogun State Government had urged residents living in areas prone to flooding to relocate in order to guard against loss of lives and property.

Also, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), last month, alerted Nigerians to prepare for more frequent and severe weather disasters like flood, windstorm, drought and epidemics. Stressing that they may occur in areas where they were previously unknown.
