President Goodluck Jonathan’s concession of defeat in last Saturday’s presidential election has been hailed by the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, as a move that “saved the nation from political chaos and violence.”
PFN President, Reverend Dr. Felix Omobude, while appreciating the President for enabling a peaceful election, stated that his action was a true demonstration of sportsmanship in the interest of the country.
Disclosing this in a statement issued on Thursday, Omobude equally congratulated the President-elect, Gen. Mohammadu Buhari (rtd), on his victory in the presidential poll.
The statement reads, “The PFN shares in your aspiration to move Nigeria forward and hope that with the support of Nigerians, we can together build a strong, virile and united nation where no one is oppressed.
“We commend President Jonathan for his courage and spirit of sportsmanship in accepting the outcome of the elections. This has saved the nation from political chaos and violence.
“The PFN call on all Nigerians to continue to maintain peace and order and engage in things that will unite us and strengthen our democratic values,” it stated.
