The on-going feud between the Governor of Ekiti State, and Petroleum Marketers Association in the state was on Sunday put to rest, as the Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola brokered peace between the parties.
DAILY POST had earlier reported that Fayose, together with some Ekiti traditional rulers had met Governor Aregbesola in Osogbo.
At the end of the meeting, which lasted for several hours, the association, through a communique issued later, suspended the strike immediately.
The communiqué, which was signed by both the governors of Ekiti and Osun, as well as the trio of NUPENG General Secretary, Joseph Ogbebor, IPMAN Zonal Chairman, Alhaji Debo Ahmeed, and PTD NUPENG National Vice Chairman, Comrade Solomon Kilanko proposed an ad hoc committee for the purpose of fine tuning modalities of operation for filling stations in the state.
The committee, which will comprise representatives of Ekiti State Government and oil and gas stakeholders is billed to start work on Wednesday, June 7, 2017.
According to the communiqué, governor Fayose on his part has agreed to reversed the revocation of some Certificates of Occupancy of landed properties on which filling stations are built, except those that constitute threat to the environment.
In the same vein, Ekiti State government has also agreed to stop further demolitions pending the outcome of the committee’s report.
