Peterside blasts Keshi for leaving Emenike on the bench against Congo

Former Nigeria goalkeeper Peterside Idah, has said coach Stephen Keshi should take the blame for the 3-2 defeat to Congo on Saturday.

The Big Boss chose to start the game in Calabar, with Uche Nwofor leading the attack and Emmanuel Emenike on the bench.

Emenike was eventually introduced in the second half and proved a real handful for the Congolese.

“I was surprised Emenike was on the bench for this game,” Peterside said.

“Keshi is the coach, he decides who plays and when, that’s why he is being paid. If his selection didn’t work or he decide a particular player will sit on the bench, he takes the blame for whatever happened.”

Peterside, who is also an analyst with SuperSport, also blamed the players for being over confident against Congo.

“Our players were over confident, Congo showed they wanted to win the game more than us, and they took the game to us and they were the better side on the day,” he stated.
