Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini, was issued out a warning to Chelsea and insisted that his team are back to their title-winning form.
Sergio Aguero scored twice at the Stadium of Light, as City crushed Sunderland 4-1 to keep pace with the Blues.
The Chilean tactician says “trust” has returned to his squad and warned Jose Mourinho’s men that titles are not won in December.
“We are returning to the form we showed last season, especially after we beat Bayern Munich. There is trust in the team, it is different now, we are getting our normal performances,” Pellegrini said.
“When the team plays that way, with one touch, moving the ball quickly, we are going to return to being a top team.
“It was a complete performance and finally we win here at Sunderland.”
Aguero’s goals were his 18th and 19th of the season and Pellegrini only had praise for his Argentine frontman.
“He is a very important player, but this team is not just Sergio Aguero. He is one of the five best players in the world,” he said.
“We play in a way that is very useful to him to score a lot of goals. I also think it is very important for him not to just think about scoring, he’s doing all the things well and the team is playing very well. We are always trying to be an aggressive team.”
Pellegrini also added that nothing has been won yet and claimed Arsenal and Manchester United were also in the race for the league title.
He added: “I don’t think we can compare with Chelsea (who drew 0-0 at the Stadium of Light at the weekend) for this game.
“You can’t be the Champions in November or December. It is impossible to know who will be champions when we have 26-27 games more. If we continue to play this way we will fight for the title.”
