The All Progressive Congress, APC, has described the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as a party living in self –denial, saying that in no distant time, the acclaimed largest party in Africa will become history.
Interim National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, who also said the party was not the brain behind PDP’s woes, noted that ongoing cracks in the ruling party was an accident waiting to happen.
Mohammed in an interview with Punch said, “While we cannot be held responsible for the implosion in the PDP as it was an accident waiting to happen, we are not unhappy that finally by this implosion, Nigeria is on the path of redemption.
“As to whether the seven dissenting governors are ACN moles, our position is that we shall welcome them with open arms into the APC.
“If President Jonathan and the PDP cannot manage success, we will demonstrate to them and Nigerians how we can optimise the experience and competence of these dissenting PDP governors for the benefit of Nigerians.
“The truth of the matter is that PDP is living in self -denial. In a few months time, PDP will be history. And by the way, there are today not just seven dissenting governors.
“The number of dissenting governors is probably today more than those with Bamanga Tukur.
Similary, the Director of Communication/ Media Advisor to the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Movement, Alaba Yusuf distant the party from the crisis rocking the PDP.
According to him, “The PDM is barely three weeks old. The PDM as a party cannot be working towards the disintegration of any other party, least of all, the PDP which has been on ground for the past 14 years.
“What is happening in the PDP is its internal affair; we are out to provide Nigerians with a better alternative.
“The beauty of democracy is the provision of choice. We are not into blame game. We don’t want to be drawn into a controversy that we have nothing to do with.
“We are now too busy with the registration of our members nationwide and we want Nigeria to be a better place for all.
“So, if people say a party is not doing well, they look for a credible alternative which the Peoples Democratic Movement is providing.
“We as a party are not happy about the poor state of our education, we are not happy about our dwindling economy, we are not happy about the lack of employment just like other Nigerians. We have no hand in the internal crisis of the PDP.”
