The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers state says it has uncovered fresh facts that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the State is still looking for a way out of its huge electoral “criminality and deficiency”.
The APC said that PDP had been busy doctoring results declared nearly 3 weeks ago by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
According to the APC, “apart from the fictitious results being cooked-up in hotels owned by its members, the party has also tampered with election materials, including ballot papers, which it has been busy thumb-printing in large numbers. PDP, it was discovered, is doing so in order to manufacture figures to tally with the controversial results declared by INEC on April 11 in Rivers state”.
The APC in a statement by the Director of Media of its governorship candidate, Ibim Semenitari said “It was further discovered that apart from the Landmark Hotel owned by Mr. Olaka Nwogu and located in the D-Line axis of the Rivers State capital, the old residence of Senator Thompson Sekibo, a serving Senator of the Federal Republic, who is reportedly out of the country, was identified as another venue where the PDP has used for the writing of results, an action criminal and condemnable”.
The APC noted that apart from the cooking-up of results in those and other hotels owned by its members, “PDP has been doctoring INEC Voter Register at the EDGE Hotel in GRA, owned by Ezebuwon Nyesom Wike, its governorship candidate and primary beneficiary of the April 11 electoral rape in Rivers state.
“PDP has been cooking-up indefensible proofs that it won the April 11 election against facts it collaborated with INEC and compromised security agencies to rob Rivers people their freedom of choice. It is not in doubt that while INEC is yet to release the voter register for the conduct of the local government elections scheduled for May 23 in Rivers state is because PDP is still doctoring the said register. It is our right and due to have the register to conduct the elections”, the statement read in part.
“While advising PDP and its agents to desist from turning itself into an illegal electoral body, the campaign outfit said the party was faced with no other option than to be bold enough to answer for the electoral crimes it committed, particularly on April 11.
“We are convinced that the wild geese chase PDP has embarked upon will not last long as the plot to doctor electoral materials, results and Voter register will not change the fate awaiting it and its candidates. The stolen victory it has been parading will soon be restored and Rivers people allowed under a free atmosphere to freely choose who their elected Governor and representatives are,” the party said.
