The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has reacted to the reported plans of former governor of Ondo state, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko to defect to Labour party.
The Director of Media and Publicity of PDP in Ondo State, Ayo Fadaka speaking on the development to newsmen in the state said Mimiko’s defection would not affect the fortune of the party in the state.
Fadaka, however expressed shock at the news of former governor’s defection hoping that Mimiko would rescind his decision to leave the party.
“The PDP is a very big party that can be likened to an orange tree and if you pluck from it, it does not kill the orange. Therefore the party will survive.
“Dr Mimiko is one of the big fish that left the PDP before and the party is still striving now, we will just hope all these are rumour and that it will not come to happen.
“We really love Dr.Mimiko and always want to be part of his political planning. We are hoping he will not leave, and if he does, the party (PDP) will survive,” Fadaka said.
