PDP primary will hold, come and kill us – Kwankwaso’s ally dares APC govt, police

Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam, an ally of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has accused the police of working for the All Progressives Congress (APC) led federal government.

The running mate to Kwankwaso’s preferred candidate, Malam Abba Kabir Yusuf, lamented that the police was blocking the party from conducting its governorship primary in Kano.

Security operatives on Monday barricaded Maraba Cinema venue of the exercise to avoid breakdown of law and order.

Kano PDP governorship primaries earlier scheduled for last Sunday was later postponed by the national headquarters pending resolution of some issues.

Abdulsalam, former Commissioner for State Affairs under Kwankwaso government, also accussed the police of preventing the Kwankwasiyya members from accessing the Lugard House headquarters of the group in the state.

According to him, PDP in Kano would not be intimidated by the Police from carrying out their lawful primaries.

“We are all from Kano and we have the right of associate to belong to political party of our choice.

“We are aware the federal government and APC are jittering and intimidated of Kano PDP because of our strong and massive support.

“But we would not be intimidate we would go ahead to conduct our primaries let the Police come and kill all of us.

“The Police have no right to stop us from conducting political activities,” Abdulsalam stated.

Last week, the Police dispersed members of the PDP caretaker committee while the officials were holding a meeting at Sokoto Road in Kano metropolis.

The police explained that they acted on a subsisting court order against the formation of the committee by the party’s National Working Committee, NWC.

Justice NS Umar of Kano High Court in an interim order dated August 28, ordered both the applicants and the respondents to maintain the status quo ante, pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.

The court ordered the respondents and any other person or persons to restrain from interfering or tampering with the tenure of the existing leadership of PDP in Kano.

Umar Mai Goro Rano and four others dragged the national and state leadership of the PDP before Justice Umar, challenging the plans to restructure the party’s executive committee.
