Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf on Tuesday, October 2, emerged as the flag bearer of the Kano chapter of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2019 general elections.
The primary election was conducted by Mr Ezeogu Emeka Onouha, chairman of the electoral committee constituted by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).
Onuoha while announcing the results, explained that no fewer than 4,130 accredited delegates participated in the exercise.
According to him, the breakdown of the final results showed that Abba Kabir Yusuf scored 2,421 to emerge winner, while Alhaji Jafar Sani Bello came second with 1258.
Muhammad Sadiq Wali secured 167 votes, while the 2015 party flag bearer of the PDP, Salihu Sagir Takai garnered 95 votes.
Other aspirants who made their mark in the result slip included Ibrahim El Amin who scored 51 votes, Akilu Sani Indabawa 33 votes.
Onuoha said the exercise which had 4,130. delegates across the 44 local government area of Kano, recorded 105 voided vote after a peaceful competitive exercise.
Speaking after he was declared winner, Yusuf appealed for unity among party members to enable the party wrestle power from the APC led administration in the state.
The exercise was held at the Lugard Avenue, residence of the party leader, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, after the initial venue was sealed by the police.
