PDP presidential primary: What Saraki told his supporters after losing to Atiku [VIDEO]

Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has thanked members of his campaign team, despite losing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential ticket to former vice-president, Atiku Abubakar.

Saraki, who walked into a hall filled with chants of “Oloye”, admitted that the “polity was not ready for us”, but insisted that he is happy they “changed the game”.

He added: “I think we gave a good fight. We gave a good account of ourselves. I think the polity is not ready for us.

“I want to thank the whole team, because I think you were in Lagos all the while. You should be proud of yourselves”.

The former Kwara Governor finished third at the primary behind Atiku and Sokoto state Governor, Aminu Tambuwal.

Saraki polled 317 votes, while Tambuwal got 693.

Atiku won by a landslide, garnering 1,532 votes.
